Lately, we’ve been getting this question more and more: “Do you use mRNA vaccines in your cattle?” Let’s get right to it.
short answer:
No. We never have, and we don’t plan to.
But if you want to understand a little more about vaccines, cattle health, and what’s actually used in the beef industry (and what’s not), stick around—we’ll break it down.

what are mrna vaccines and are they used in beef?
mRNA vaccines aren’t exactly new (they’ve been studied for decades), but they became widely known during the COVID-19 pandemic. That’s when they received emergency use authorization for human use.
Since then, there's been growing concern (and confusion) about whether mRNA vaccine technology is being used in beef cattle. Let’s clear the air.
there are no mrna vaccines approved for use in cattle.
Could a farmer technically use one “off label”? In theory, yes, but it’s highly unlikely. Most cattle farmers don’t have access to experimental vaccines. They’re not slipping behind the feed store to pick up some black-market mRNA doses.
In reality, farmers (ourselves included) get their vaccines the same place they get feed and mineral: at the local feed store. And mRNA vaccines just aren’t on the shelf.
so what vaccines do we use at hi brau?
We use one vaccine in our adult cattle, and it’s what’s called a killed-virus vaccine.
Here’s what that means:
The virus is rendered inactive (killed)
It can’t infect the animal
It trains the immune system to recognize and fight the real thing later
It’s the same foundational technology used in vaccines for measles, rubella, and polio
This vaccine is recommended by our local veterinarian and backed by university research. It’s not experimental. It’s not political. It’s just smart animal care.

why we’re upfront about this
We could just say, “No, we don’t use mRNA vaccines,” and leave it at that, maybe leave you wondering if other farms do. But that’s not how we do things.
Hi Bräu is a no-BS, full-transparency beef company. If we tell you something, it’s the whole story. No marketing sleight of hand. No fear tactics.
So here it is:
We don’t use mRNA vaccines in our cattle. And as far as we know, neither does anyone else.
what you should watch Out for in beef
If you’re concerned about what’s in your beef, here are the bigger red flags in conventional meat:
Routine antibiotics
Growth hormones
Feed additives
Unknown feed sources
These practices are common in industrial beef production. They’re not used at Hi Bräu.
We raise all of our cattle on pasture in South Carolina, with no antibiotics, no growth hormones, and no grain unless clearly stated.
When we say clean, honest beef, we mean it.
the bottom line
Hi Bräu does not use mRNA vaccines
No mRNA vaccines are currently approved for use in cattle
We use a traditional killed-virus vaccine, recommended by vets
And we never use antibiotics, hormones, or synthetic feed additives
